CMCM Updates

CMCM Highlights of 2014 & Plans for 2015

CMCM is pleased to share some highlights of our activities over the past year -- and plans for the New Year:

We installed production equipment in San Anselmo and Larkspur and will start 2015 with ten different county and city governments and agencies cablecasting their meetings on the Government Channel - many live!

With so much government content, we are requesting a second government channel from our cable providers.

We continued our Summer Sports Broadcast Camp and had a great group of youth produce ten live cablecasts of San Rafael Pacifics Baseball Games.

We are launching the Marin Media Corp to train youth and engage them in community productions.

We'll begin to upgrade our aging field equipment and bring the studio up to full HD production capability so our community productions will look even better this time next year!

Most significantly, we were successful in securing temporary bridge support funding from the MTA which ensures for the first time that CMCM has a firm foundation upon which to build.

Your support is essential to our work and helps us expand our efforts into the communities of Marin. All donations are tax deducible.

Latino Film Festival 2016

Selected films from the Cine+Mas SF Latino Film Festival were hosted by the Community Media Center of Marin in collaboration with ForWords, The Task Force on the Americas, Canal Welcome Center, and Canal Alliance. Screened at the Albert J. Boro Community Center, the featured films celebrate Latino culture and will include
Q&A sessions with the filmmakers.

Red Flag Warning in Effect | June 22 - June 24 |

Red Flag Warning

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Mt. Tam Watershed. A Red Flag Warning means warm temperatures, very low humidity, and strong winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.

As a result of the Red Flag Warning, all watershed land use permits have been suspended. No fires or BBQs will be permitted. MMWD's Mt. Tamalpais watershed lands are closed to public motor vehicle traffic both Saturday 6/23 and Sunday 6/24 at the following sites:
• Sky Oaks Road beyond the Sky Oaks Ranger Station
• Natalie Coffin Greene Park
• Leo Cronin parking lot gate

For additional information and updates, call MMWD's fire and road closure message line at 415-945-1195.

June 22nd and 23rd are also Spare the Air Days. Bay Area Residents are urged to cut back on any activities that cause pollution - such as driving, using oil-based paints, gasoline-powered lawn mowers, or household aerosol products like hair sprays. People who are sensitive to unhealthy air are advised to limit their time outdoors, particularly in the afternoon hours.

My Place | My Story Premiere: Thursday April 28th @ 6:00 PM

MY PLACE | MY STORY
APRIL 2022 PREMIERE

MY PLACE | MY STORY is a five-day intensive workshop where students ages 14–18 create personal short films while learning digital storytelling and basic filmmaking skills. Supervised and supported by professional media makers, students write and record personal video narratives about their own lives and experiences and the things they are most inspired by or care about. The finished films are presented in a premiere screening one month after the workshop for an audience of family, friends and supporters, along with a Q&A with the student filmmakers. The program is FREE and includes all the necessary media tools and training. All workshops are offered during school breaks to allow for full student participation.

The My Place | My Story program is designed to serve students who lack easy access to filmmaking instruction and/or resources and who are rarely given opportunities for their voices to be heard or their stories to be told. Students of color and LGBTA+ or gender non-conforming youth are strongly encouraged to apply.
